What is analine point?

Aniline point is a measure of the relative solubility of crude oil components in other petroleum fluids. The aniline point is the lowest temperature at which equal volumes of aniline (a clear, colorless, oily liquid with a characteristic odor) and a petroleum fluid completely dissolve in each other. This property is widely used in the petroleum industry to determine the compatibility, blending, or refining of different crude oil streams to yield higher-value products. The aniline point is also an important parameter in the production and use of various petroleum-based products such as fuels, lubricants, and plastics.
